Every musician’s journey has its challenges. There are days when practice feels frustrating, progress seems slow, or a new skill feels impossible. Whether you’re a child, teen, or adult, it can be tempting to give up. But the effort we put into learning music provides benefits that go far beyond simply playing an instrument.
1. Music exercises the brain. Learning music requires concentration, memory, coordination, listening, and problem-solving. Musicians are constantly processing notes, rhythms, patterns, and physical movements at the same time, helping keep the brain active and engaged.
2. Music combines logic and creativity. Music theory involves patterns, scales, chords, rhythm, and note reading—all very structured skills. At the same time, musicians use those skills to create something expressive and artistic. Music uniquely brings analytical thinking and creativity together.
3. Playing music builds teamwork. Musicians who play in bands, orchestras, ensembles, or other groups must listen to one another and work together. Each person has an individual part to play while also adjusting tempo, dynamics, and timing to create a unified sound.
4. Music connects us to other cultures. Learning different instruments and musical styles can introduce us to cultures and traditions from around the world. Classical, jazz, Latin, African, and many other musical traditions offer opportunities to discover history while developing a greater appreciation for how people have expressed themselves through music.
These are only a few of the many benefits of music lessons. Music can build confidence, encourage perseverance, provide a creative outlet, and bring enjoyment throughout a lifetime.
So whether you’re 7 or 70, keep learning, keep practicing, and keep making music. It’s worth it!

We are pleased to announce Brayden as the Post Falls Music Academy student of the month!
Brayden is 12 years old and has been studying Drums for 9 months!
He is a 7th grader, home-schooled.
His favorite color is blue. He loves to eat burgers. Yum!
He loves to play Snare!
When he is not playing the drums, Brayden likes to play baseball!
His teacher, Paul, says: “Brayden consistently approaches his instrument with enthusiasm and dedication, and he often takes the initiative to challenge himself! Even in the face of a difficult song or being nervous for a performance, he
perseveres and overcomes, and has a great attitude the entire way. Great job Brayden!”
Congratulations Brayden for your hard work and awesome attitude.

If you miss a lesson, you can sign up for a FREE make-up class! We have them every month for every instrument. All you have to do is sign up at the front desk in our Make-Up Class binder. They are scheduled out in advance and they never expire! Sign up for as many as you want!
